Should we really show double standards? That’s the question that sat with me today. Maybe not on our faces, but in our actions, how we treat people, how we judge situations, and even how we justify our own flaws.

But what is it, really?Double standards are when the rules bend for us but stay firm for others. When the line we draw in the sand depends on who’s standing across it. It’s when we call something wrong only when it's not our person, or defend a fault only because it benefits us. Sometimes it’s loud and obvious. Other times, it’s hidden behind sweet smiles and innocent intentions.

The hardest part?We often don’t even notice when we carry it. It seeps into how we talk, how we treat friends versus strangers, how we forgive ourselves but punish others. And slowly, without realizing it, we build an image of inconsistency. People begin to see us as unfair, selective, maybe even hypocritical. It can break trust, cause conflict, or quietly make others feel less than.

But acknowledging this isn't about guilt, it's about awareness. We all slip. We all carry bias. But when we recognize it, we get to choose better. We get to check ourselves, rethink our reactions, and maybe listen just a little more before we judge.

We get to be more human.

What do you think?
